KGLU in 2023: from the image of nature to the world of sound

Exhibitions that you can catch this year at the Carinthian Gallery of Fine Arts in Slovenj Gradec

This year, the KGLU in Slovenj Gradac will present a selection of works by Slovenian authors under the title Images of Nature, the works of Ivet Šubic will travel from Škofja Loka, and at the end of the year, the exhibition will take you into the world of sound and bring in world-class names.

These are works that were donated to the gallery by artists participating in international exhibitions under the auspices of the UN, with the idea of ​​establishing in Slovenj Gradac gallery, which will represent the ideas of peace, solidarity and international cooperation. The exhibition will be on display until mid-March.

The aim of the competition and exhibition is to promote social integration or inclusion among children, adolescents and adults with special needs and the majority population of all generations.

Images of nature will be on display from the end of March to the end of May. In April, the collection will be presented as part of the collection exchange initiative Center of contemporary art in Celje, where the collection will be on display from July to the end of November Homage á Printer.

Art Iveta Šubica will be on display during the summer. The exhibition, created on the occasion of the centenary of the painter’s birth, will be transferred from the Škofja Loka Museum in Loka, and the installation will be supplemented with paintings and graphic works for the occasion.

In the summer, they will put on display works from the private collection that he has KGLU purchased in 2022 with the help of the Ministry of Culture. It includes forty-one high-quality large-format paintings by artists who are among the prominent and most important names of late modernism or postmodernism in Slovenia. The Spirit of Postmodernism exhibition will be on view until mid-September.

In September, there will be a traditional exhibition from the competition for original children’s artistic and literary work and photography, where schools and institutes from all over Slovenia participate. Each year, three topics related to current social issues are announced, and at least one of them is announced by the United Nations General Assembly.

At the end of September, they will present a selection of works from the public call for the Triennale of Handicrafts and Crafts, which Mrs prepared together with the Carinthian Provincial Museum, Podjetniški center Slovenj Gradec, the Slovenian Ethnographic Museum, the Museum of Architecture and Design and in cooperation with To the center for creativity and To the center Horn. At the triennial, products, materials and prototypes will be on display, which revive the traditional knowledge of handicraft industries with manual production methods and understand handicraft as a source of ideas and inventions. The public call runs until March 12, 2023.
