Producer prices of industrial products continue to rise. They rose by 2.6 percent in May, which is slightly less than in April. According to Surs, they were 22.5 percent higher year on year. Prices in electricity supply rose the most.
Prices for sales on the domestic market were 3.1 percent higher on a monthly basis, while prices for sales on foreign markets were higher by 2.1 percent. Pri the latter prices for sales on the markets of countries in the euro area increased by 2.5 percent, and on the markets of countries outside the euro area by 1.3 percent, according to the Statistical Office (SORS).
Energy prices rose by 9.2 percent, raw materials by 2.5 percent, consumer goods by 1.8 percent and investment products by 1.7 percent.
Compared to April, prices increased the most in electricity supply (by 11.8 percent). This was followed by prices in the manufacture of basic metals (by 5.0 percent), woodworking and processing, and in the manufacture of wood products (by 4.4 percent) and food production (by 3.2 percent). On the other hand, prices in the manufacture of clothing fell the most (by 3.1 percent), followed by reductions in the production of leather, leather and related products (by 1.9 percent).
In the year-on-year comparison, producer prices of manufactured goods were 22.5 percent higher in May. Prices for sales on the domestic market increased by 25.7 percent, and for sales on foreign markets by 19.3 percent, namely in the markets of euro area countries by 21.6 percent and in non-euro area markets by 14, 7 percent.
Energy prices rose by 74.6 percent, raw materials by 28.5 percent, investment products by 12.8 percent and general consumption goods by 10.4 percent.
Prices in electricity supply rose the most (by 99.2 percent). This was followed by prices in the manufacture of basic metals (by 56.9 percent), the manufacture of paper and paper products (by 43.5 percent) and the working and processing of wood and wood products (by 38.5 percent). Meanwhile, prices fell in the manufacture of other vehicles and vessels (by 2.9 percent) and in the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (by 0.5 percent), Surs said.
