Consumer Advocacy research shows that 60% of Salvadorans who take advantage of Black Friday offers look for tech items. Clothing, footwear, personal items and furniture are an afterthought.
The majority of Salvadorans looking for offers prefer going to shopping centers, compared to 13% who say they buy through digital channels, 68%.
A survey conducted in the first two weeks of November revealed that 4 in 10 Salvadorans plan to go to shopping centers between 6pm and 10pm. 21% in the afternoon and 21% in the morning.
The survey also revealed that 67% of El Salvador’s population have no plans to spend this Black Friday.
Of the 33% anticipating a purchase, 11% are budgeting $50, 32% plan to spend $50-$100, and 37% plan to spend $100-$150 .
“Consumers are becoming increasingly critical of promotions and offers,” the ombudsman said in a statement, with 57% of those surveyed saying most businesses offer false discounts. I elaborated on what I was thinking.
22% believe that at least half of stores offer false discounts, and 19% recognize that few stores offer discounts.
