PMI lowest since the beginning of the epidemic

GZS is moving forward with a new management team

At 33.9 points, the index of purchasing managers in Slovenian manufacturing companies is well below the point limit for the sixth month in a row. In fact, it is at its lowest level in the last 31 months, or since the beginning of the epidemic.

Managers who take care of procurement in manufacturing, i.e. industrial companies, notice a high drop in new orders and therefore an increase in repro material stocks and a decrease in the number of employees. The industry is naturally burdened by the high costs of energy products. The example of Idrija Collector the supervisor described Radovan Bolko: “The prices are abnormal, unacceptable and call into question the business for the next year.”

Therefore, the industry has been waiting for a long time and has now received the basis for state aid.

The German November index of purchasing managers, followed by Slovenia with a one-month delay, still shows a contraction in activity, but German industry has been less pessimistic in recent weeks. “The recession, if it comes, will be milder than many expected,” said the director of the institute IFO Clemens Fuest:

Looking for staff from the Philippines

Despite signs of production cooling, there is a shortage of trained personnel in both Germany and Slovenia. Slovenian companies through the Chamber of Commerce of Slovenia (GZS), among other things, are calling on the government to conclude an agreement with the Philippines in order to bring in workers there.

“Human resources remain high on the priority list of activities, which we must solve with our joint efforts. Thank you to the government already for everything, for all the help in this,” he stated Aleš Cantaruttiwho as executive director of GZS is saying goodbye to this position after a year and a half, according to our information due to different views between him and the president of GZS Tibor Šimonko regarding the management of the largest economic housing organization in our country. Šimonka, who has been more demanding and relentless than the current government, wants to be the new executive director Vesno Nakhtigalwho was already a member of the immediate management team.

“At the Chamber of Commerce, we know exactly what we need from the state. We expect it to quickly decide which energy sources we will prioritize and provide companies with financial resources,” said Nahtigalova.

The Administrative Board of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry will vote by correspondence on the appointment of Vesna Nahtigal in the first half of December.
