This year’s winter did not bring major losses to beekeepers, although the current morning low temperatures are not the most favorable and some damage has already occurred. But in the Beekeeping Association of Slovenia, they are optimistic about the new beekeeping season.
According to the beekeepers’ association, the current low morning temperatures are not the most favorable, especially for the acacia pasture, which in some places has already been washed away by the salt, they said at a press conference within the framework of the 46th beekeeping days at the ApiSlovenija 2023 fair in Celje.
Some damage has already been done, but the beekeepers are optimistic about the second part of the grazing season, the beekeepers’ association announced after the press conference. As they added, the health condition of the bees is also stable, according to the veterinary service.
The beekeeping association also reminded of the upcoming day of planting honey plants throughout Slovenia. This will take place next Saturday, March 25, but the beekeepers completed part of this story at the beginning of the month, when they participated in sowing the seeds of forest tree species in the Karst, which was affected by a fire last summer.
They also drew attention to the lack of financial resources for holding the international competition of young beekeepers, which is in jeopardy because of this.
