On Wednesday, the company of entrepreneur Ivo Boscarola became the new owner of the Mercator hypermarket Tabor II shopping center in Maribor. Recently, the company has already bought business premises in the City shopping center in the center of this city.
“At Boscarol, we continue to invest in various projects and activities, among which real estate also plays an important role. Given that last fall we already started intensive investments in the Ljubljana area, this time we recognized opportunities in Maribor, which impressed us positively, because the city is increasingly well organized and, in our opinion, has significant development potential,” they wrote in today’s press release.
They explained that they recently bought 1,100 square meters of business premises in the City shopping center in the center of Maribor, which they plan to initially rent out.
Now they have become the owners of an even more active shopping center on Eve Lovše Street in Tabor, which was sold by Nova KBM. “The Tabor II shopping center in Maribor is one of the three largest shopping centers in Slovenia and among the five largest Mercator hypermarkets. It is located in the compact residential area of Tabor in Maribor in an excellent location with several main transport connections,” were cited among the reasons for their interest in this facility.
There are about 50 shops in the complex
The aforementioned shopping center was built in 2011 and is spread over 41,425 square meters of land. It has 22,995 square meters of usable space intended for trade, service and catering activities, and more than 800 parking spaces, of which 570 are in a covered garage.
In addition to the Mercator shopping center, the complex also has approximately 50 other shops of various brands, providers of banking and other services, and several restaurants.“The complex also offers new development opportunities, as it has the possibility of upgrading and adding three business towers,” say Boscarol.
The mode of operation remains unchanged
They added that before submitting the purchase offer, they conducted a survey among existing tenants, buyers and residents of the wider area. “all of whom expressed satisfaction with the current manager and the center itself, the location and the offer”. “Some information was also obtained on how to make the facility even more attractive for users and what additional content they want,” they stated.
“At Boscarol, as the new owner, we will continue the long-term rental contract for the entire center, which Mercator concluded with the previous owner. We sincerely look forward to a long-term successful cooperation with all stakeholders. to justify the trust shown to us by customers and residents of the wider Maribor area,” they also announced.
The opening hours and operating methods of the shopping center remain unchanged.
