Despite Johnny Depp previously saying that he would not be returning to the Pirates of the Caribbean saga after Disney kicked him out of the franchise, British media are pointing to the possibility that the actor has already rejoined the cast. A new entry in the franchise.

“John is set to return as Captain Jack Sparrow and is preparing to begin filming in early February at an undisclosed location in the UK,” a source close to the actor told British newspaper The Sun.

“Everything is at an early stage, and the project, which is called “A Day at Sea”, does not yet have a director attached. John is expected to do a test shoot in early February before the full production begins,” said an anonymous source.

According to these preliminary reports, the executive producer of the new film will be Bruce Hendrick, who worked on the first three parts of the saga. According to the source, all the details of the new project are still under wraps and Disney is trying to keep the production as secret as possible.

Actor Johnny Depp performed one of the most memorable roles in his career as Captain Jack Sparrow in five parts of the franchise: “The Curse of the Black Pearl” (2003), “The Deathly Hallows” (2006), “The End of the World” (2007), “Secret Waters Floating” (2011) and La Venganza de Salazar (2017), which together grossed $4.5 billion worldwide between 2003 and 2017, making it one of the highest-grossing films in history.

Due to a publication in The Sun in which Amber Heard implicitly referred to him as a misogynist, and after losing a legal battle against the tabloid, Disney removed him from the franchise.

However, Depp is now at a different stage in his life, and after the success of his defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard, he is starting to work on new projects.

On the other hand, recently there were reports of a Pirates spin-off starring Margot Robbie, however, it was the “Babylon” actress who said that the project would not see the light of day.

If The Sun reports about a new Pirates of the Caribbean movie starring Johnny Depp are to be confirmed, filming will begin in February 2023.
