Exhibition of Polish artist Honza Zamojski at MGLC

At the International Graphic Arts Center (MGLC), Polish artist Honza Zamojski is presenting himself with the exhibition The Mediator. The installation takes the form of an installation, and the titular Mediator plays both the role of viewer and author.

Exhibition curators A broker (Middleman) at MGLC, which can be visited between March 10 and May 28are Nevenka Šivavec and Yasmin Martin Vodopivec.

The mediator that holds the crumbling world togetherThe mediator is therefore the viewer who, upon entering the exhibition space, stands in the middle of the symmetrical architecture, but he is also the author who mediates between the world of ideas and the material world, creating drawings, sculptures and texts. The mediator is also visualized as a simplified and symbolic marionette that can be moved by various forces, the MGLC wrote.

The installation is created for a specific space. It takes place not only in the symmetry of architecture, but often also in relation to the symmetry – or asymmetry – of a sheet of paper, a word and a human figure. “An attentive viewer may notice that the further you are from the center of the exhibition, the brighter it is and the more there is to see. One could even say that the narrative explodes, and is tried to be reassembled by the Mediator, who holds the collapsing world with all his might,” is also written in the announcement.

A minimalist design full of meaningful symbolsPolish artist, designer, book publisher and curator Honza Zamojski (1981, Poznanj) draws on a wide range of media and artistic practices in his works, from drawings and sculptures to infographics inspired by corporate messages and poetic puns. His minimalistic forms are full of meaningful symbols, abstract compositions and figurative representations that form a visual language governed by its own grammatical rules and formal structure. Elements that may seem disparate at first glance are united by a simplicity of form interwoven with humor and irony.

To date, he has published several books, among which are Love Letter (Love Letter), Four Eggs Theory (Four Egg Theory) and Fishing with John (Fishing with John). He recently presented his original series of lectures at the Center Pompidou in Paris and in New York at the library of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and the organization Printed Matter How it’s made.

The audience here knows Zamojski from the central exhibition of the 33rd Ljubljana Graphic Biennale Vice in handcuffs from 2019, where Gathering and meeting received the audience award in the Project Space of the Society of Artists (DUM).
