Jay-Z and Beyoncé are the proud owners of what is officially the most expensive property in California. They shelled out a staggering $200 million for a magnificent villa in Malibu – and that’s all in cash.
The aforementioned residence is also the second most expensive in the history of the American real estate market – the first remains a 2,230 square meter luxury apartment in New York, which was purchased by a businessman for $238 million in 2020 Ken Griffin.
Sources familiar with the deal told TMZ that the Carters bought the villa, built entirely in concrete, from of William Bellone of the biggest art collectors in the world, who spent 15 years building his dream home.
The 2,787 square meter property was designed by a renowned Japanese architect Tadao Andowho, among other things, also designed a mansion worth 57.3 million, which Kanye West received on separation from Kim Kardashian.
Jay-Z and Beyoncé are supposed to get a new home at a reduced price, as the villa was originally sold for 295 million.
Celebrated the purchase at an expensive dinner
Although the music super couple have been criticized for their “obscenely expensive” purchase, they didn’t let that get in the way as they flaunted their new acquisition at a dinner party in London last week.
Beyoncé, 41, and Jay-Z, 53, were snapped leaving Harry’s Bar on Friday night. They were kept company by a billionaire businessman Nassef Sawiris.
The couple, who married in 2008 and have three children, have quite an extensive collection of luxury properties – in 2017 they bought a villa in Bel-Air for $88 million, and in the same year also a mansion worth $26 million in the Hamptons.
According to Forbes, Beyoncé is worth $450 million, and Jay-Z is worth $2.5 billion.
