The Maribor Opera Night returns to the promenade of the City Park. There, the Symphony Orchestra, Zbor Opera and soloists of SNG Maribor under the baton of Simon Krečič will perform a musical program with excerpts from various opera hits. Neapolitan songs will be the common thread.
“We are very happy to return to the park. In the program we always reveal a little prediction for the next season, which will happen again this year, but not to the same extent as in previous years. This year the main program line is Neapolitan songs. These are those songs, which we all know, maybe not by the title, but when we hear the tunes, we’ll all know what it’s about.” said the artistic and musical director of the Maribor Opera Krečič.
The event, which is free for visitors, has been held on the main square in the city center for the last two years, as the promenade in the City Park was under renovation.
One of the goals of the Opera Night, which has been held in Maribor for the eighth year and is always well attended, is the promotion of Slovenian opera creativity and the popularization of opera and related musical genres. This year’s concert, starting at 8:30 p.m., includes compositions by Gaetano Donizetti, Radovan Gobec, Antonin Dvorak and Gioacchino Rossini.
Male and female soloists will participate Sabina Cvilak, Rebeka Lokar, Petya Ivanova, Andreja Zakonjšek Krt, Valentina Čuden, Irena Petkova, Martin Sušnik, Tim Ribič and Jaki Jurgec.
As is customary, the repertoire of the 2023/2024 season of Drama, Opera and Ballet will be presented in the morning at SNG Maribor.
