Verrett, an African-American who describes himself as a “sixth-generation shaman,” counts celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Antonio Banderas among his followers.
Princess Marta Louise, the eldest daughter of Norway’s royal couple, and her American fiance Durek Veret, a self-proclaimed “shaman”, will marry on August 31, 2024, they announced on Wednesday.
The relationship between the 51-year-old princess and the 48-year-old “shaman Durek”, which became public in 2019, has been widely criticized in Hollywood for the spiritual guide’s alternative medicine methods. They are accused of charlatanism.
The wedding will take place in the city of Geiranger, in the south-west of the country, on the coast of the homonymous fjord. “We are incredibly happy to be able to celebrate our love in the beautiful surroundings of Geiranger,” the couple said in a statement.
Marta Louise and Durek Veret announced their engagement in June 2022 with the blessing of King Harald, who in 1968 married a commoner who became Queen Sonja.
In a separate statement on Wednesday, the royal couple and Crown Prince Haakon, Marta Louise’s brother, congratulated the couple and said they were “delighted to welcome the Dure Veret family”.

However, there was controversy in Norway over his insinuations in the book that cancer is a choice, or the exercises he recommended to erase the vaginal “imprint” of women who had multiple sexual partners.
