With the first tender from the fund for small projects related to the European Capital of Culture – Nova Gorica, EPK GO! 2025 -, the European Association for Transnational Cooperation will co-finance 27 cross-border projects.
According to Radio Slovenija journalist Karin Zorn Čebokli, almost 100 very good proposals were submitted to the tender, which is financed by the Interreg Italia-Slovenia program. Therefore, the tendered funds were increased by one and a half million euros.
27 small cross-border projects will enrich the eventsWith the tender for small projects, the European Association for Territorial Cooperation was looking for a wide variety of content that would keep the visitors of the European Capital of Culture in the cross-border area longer. 240 proposals were received, explained the deputy director of EZTS GO Tomaž Konrad: “87 projects with more than 85 points made it to the ranking. Which means we got really, really good projects.“
But the money, despite the fact that they added another million and a half euros to the tendered three million euros, is only enough to finance 27 projects. “There are many projects in the field of tourism, quite a few in the field of film, some in music. We wanted to hear more projects in the field of sports or outdoor tourism. The partnerships are also varied, we have some large, public entities, and even more private ones,Konrad said.
“I recognize the partners we already work with, and this will strengthen them, and I recognize some completely new areas that, frankly, we couldn’t afford because we ran out of program money,” said the EPK program manager about the selected projects Pelko stand.
Submitted topics range from music, cinema, languages, theatre, dance and museum offerings to tourism, food and wine, sports and astronomy. In order to enrich the offer and cultural and touristic revitalization of the area, musical and theater events will be organized (e.g. the establishment of a cross-border brass band), film productions and projections aimed at promoting EU values and active citizenship through art. The museum offer will also be enriched with new spaces, collections and performances, both digital (e.g. digital storytelling) and traditional (e.g. exhibitions or historical reenactments), while not forgetting the renovation of exhibition spaces, with the aim of promoting cross-border historical heritage and promotion of sustainable tourism, it says on the website go2025.
The new survey is expected in early 2024Successful applicants can apply for the call for standard projects from the Interreg Italy – Slovenia program, which is open until the end of October and offers the possibility of financing larger projects. As the head of the joint secretariat said Aljoša Sossol are “culture and tourism are among the priorities, i.e. the same content as was envisaged in the EZTS GO tender. It is definitely a good opportunity for them to find synergies with others, especially those with similar topics. Of course, they must make an effort to get those elements that will enable them to be successful in the tender when creating a new, joint, larger project.“
Karin Zorn Čebokli also reported that a new tender from the fund for small projects will be announced by EZTS GO at the beginning of next year.
