You can catch the artistic intervention tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday

The artist Sanja Nešković Peršin will perform a live performance this week, in which she enters a moment in which she tries to get closer to the unlived, unrealized experiences that we always strive for.

Work A moment before will perform in the NÓT art space in Ljubljana, on September 19, 20 and 21 at 8:00 p.m.

When it comes to the artist, the moment described is the moment when he ventures into the most mysterious areas of artistic creation. The choreographer and performer explores the longing and restlessness that inevitably accompany the rooted desire for excellence.

In the face of the elusive images of individual movements, which remained discarded in the past due to incompleteness, captured in a performative film, and with her intervention in the space, the artist establishes an internal dialogue in which she recreates the feeling of tension that occurs before the resolution of the expectation itself. “This dynamic interweaving of visual and sonic fragments in the darkness of the exhibition space draws a map of tension and uncertainty that, from the perspective of the present, encourages the exploration of a constellation of what could have been and what did not happen,” the curator of the project wrote about the work Yasmín Martín Water drinker.

The dancer weaves her dance language from the movements she has constantly practiced during her dance career and increases their intensity, thereby trying to cross the boundaries of the physical, and in this way emphasize the importance and weight of the irrational as an essential part of our rational perception. “Through the iconoclastic exercise of deconstruction of repeated movements, she reveals the unknown complexity of conflicting emotional impulses that lie behind the creative process. Unconscious contents appear during the recollection of unlived, unrealized experiences and create a dreamlike atmosphere in which the artist sublimates the desire to achieve perfection until it sound out,” we still read in the curator’s note.

So what is the Moment Before? It is the moment before everything happens: even nothing. “It’s a fall into the void, a second of complete uncertainty, it’s the moment you take a step to step onto the stage. It is a state of detachment that allows us to travel imaginary in time. Where we can consciously access the detailed fragments of our own experiences, often jealously guarded by our past in the unconscious, in order to find a balance in which we can assume in our fragility that what has been a failure for us in a certain period is inalienable part of our present. Perhaps this very moment brings us closest to what we have always strived for.”
