The half-hour German-Serbian drama directed by Tamara Denić is the recipient of an award from the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Award-winning films can also apply for the prestigious Oscars with this recognition. The student Oscars will be awarded on October 24.
At the 50th Student Academy Awards, among the recipients of the awards from the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is the film The truth (The truth) with an actress Niko Rozmanwho played the lead role in the director’s award-winning film Tamara Denić. The award is a special international recognition, as only 14 of the 2,443 submitted projects from 720 universities from all over the world were awarded. Award-winning films can also apply for the prestigious Oscars with this recognition.
“That is completely surreal,” said the director upon receiving the award Tamara Denić. “We are unbearably happy about this award and can hardly express our feelings. For the team, this is a great recognition and thanks for all our work,” she added. Also the film’s producer Christian See congratulated the team and added that the award is a special honor and recognition of the quality work of the team behind the film.
The movie The truth was also among the student finalists for a prestigious international award Bafta 2023. But it won some other awards, including the audience award at the 44th. German cinematic festival Max Ophüls Preiswhere it had its world premiere.

Nika Rozman describes Jelena like a full-blooded, multifaceted and complex character of an ambitious photojournalist who, due to political pressures, has to leave her life in Belgrade and move to Germany overnight with her daughter. “An extremely moving story, an elaborate script and an extremely topical topic that deals with freedom of speech, media independence and the importance of investigative journalism in today’s times, they are immediately attracted me” he says.

The film, which is currently touring festivals abroad, they are filmed in Hamburg and Belgrade.
