Now the man they based the movie on is Tim Ballard He was investigated for allegedly sexually harassing seven women involved in anti-trafficking operations run by his organization.
Operation Underground Railroad (OUR), a foundation created by Ballard, confirmed that the activist had resigned over the allegations and the ongoing investigation.
Sources close to the alleged victims, who preferred to remain anonymous, revealed that Ballard made sexual advances on them under the premise that he was “doing everything to save the child” and that he sent at least one of them photos of her in her underwear.

“Tim Ballard resigned from OUR on June 22nd. He has since permanently separated from OUR. OUR is committed to combating sexual violence and will not tolerate sexual harassment or discrimination against anyone in its organization who has hired a private law firm. Extensive investigation of all allegations,” explained A representative of the organization.
According to VICE media, Tim’s inappropriate behavior was already known in the activism environment, it was even exposed in an anonymous letter that circulated for months in the state of Utah (USA).
“Several weeks ago, an employee of ours who accompanied Tim during a brutal operation filed a sexual harassment complaint against him with Human Resources. This led to an extensive internal investigation into Tim, which resulted in more women coming forward,” the letter said. According to the Mexican newspaper El Universal.
Testimony noted that Ballard “manipulated several women over the past several years with the ultimate intent of forcing them to engage in sexual acts with him,” but declined to speak publicly for fear of retaliation.
