On the occasion of the international childhood cancer awareness month, which is celebrated in September, the Parliament was visited by children from the Golden Bow Institute. Members of Parliament and others gathered were presented with golden bows, which are a symbol of childhood cancer.
As the DZ stated in a press release, the children and adolescents who were treated at the pediatric hematology and oncology department on the 3rd floor of the Pediatric Clinic of the University Clinical Center Ljubljana are great fighters. At the event in the DZ, they shared their stories of coping with the disease.
Deputy Speaker of the DZ Nataša Sukič she told them, among other things, that they were unique and priceless. “Each of your stories is still in the making and I promise that we will all write it together with you. Unfortunately, life is such that we have to accept whatever comes our way, so it is only important that we face it bravely and with everything we’ve got. If we believe we can, we’re already halfway there.” her words were summarized in a press release.
According to them, a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Health also addressed the gathering Miroslav Gregorič, who, among other things, expressed deep respect for all the members of the Golden Ribbon Institute for their selfless help to young patients and their parents during treatment, and expressed support for the children in overcoming the disease.
The event was attended by the State Secretary at the Ministry of Public Administration Jure Trbic. He expressed his support and respect for all sick children and their families, as well as the medical staff for their professional and dedicated care for children with cancer, the ministry announced. At the same time, they stated that they are young heroes with a strong will, courage and by heart survived a serious illness, and their experience us can help to better understand the disease.
