El Salvador’s new consulate opened Tuesday in the easternmost city of Omaha in Douglas County, Nebraska, USA.
Officials said the new space aims to provide better care, help and advice to the wider Salvadoran community living in the city.
Among the processes that Salvadorans can perform at the new consulate are passport renewals, birth certificate applications, family registration procedures, and any other legal procedures Salvadorans may need in the United States.
Javier Menendez, Consulate General of the Republic of El Salvador in Nebraska, said there are about 20,000 Salvadorans in Nebraska, and this new legal space will serve them extensively to carry out their formalities and prevent long journeys elsewhere. I stressed that it can be avoided. Nearby cities or states with a Salvadoran consulate.
They also noted that this consulate will serve as a voting center for Salvadorans to participate in the 2024 elections.
The opening of this delegation brings the number of Salvadoran consulates in the United States to 27.
