Gareth Bale to play in golf tournaments after retiring from football

Welshman Gareth Bale has announced that he will be competing in the Pebble Beach Pro-Am golf event in February. A few weeks after retiring from soccer.

Bale, who retired in January of this year, joins many celebrities on the famous California golf course alongside some of the world’s top professional golfers.

The 33-year-old former Real Madrid footballer wrote on Instagram:

Former Tottenham striker He won five Champions League titles and three Spanish league titles with Real Madrid, but had a passion for golf that pissed off the Spanish team’s fans.

At an international match for Wales he said “Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order”.
Bale, who finished his career with Los Angeles FC, played for Wales at last year’s World Cup in Qatar before deciding to retire.

It’s time for him to focus on his second sport passion, golf.

A total of 156 amateur players will be competing in the Pebble Beach event from February 2-5. An equal number of pros are in attendance, including US Open champion Matt Fitzpatrick and world number five Patrick Cantlay.
