UEFA’s executive committee has approved some minor changes to qualifying for the European Championship and the Nations League, which aim to ensure more decisive matches in these two competitions after 2024.
In the League of Nations, the national teams will also meet in the promotion matches. Due to the additional matches, the second and third places will be placed in groups in Nations Leagues have been given extra weight.

A larger number of smaller groups are introduced in the EP qualifiers. There will be national teams in future games in 12 groups of four or five national teams. This year’s qualifiers will take place in 10 groups of five or six national teams.
In the new format will be to the EP directly ranked 12 highest-ranked national teams and six best second-ranked national teams. The remaining second-placed teams and some of the best national teams from the League of Nations will play in the additional qualifications.
