The Slovenian basketball players will finish the qualification for the World Cup tonight in Koper against Israel. The match will start at 18:00.
Slovenia already secured its fourth appearance at the World Cup before the last qualifying window. The selector Aleksander Sekulić also gave a chance to younger players.
Žiga Samar, Gregor Glas, Aleksej Nikolić, Leon Stergar and Saša Ciani had stomach problems after returning from Estonia and missed Sunday’s training, but were already on their feet this morning. Only Bine Prepelič was missing.
Before the last round of qualifications, eleven of the twelve European national teams that will play at the WC are known. Our group includes Germany and Finland, as well as France, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Spain, Montenegro and Georgia. Today, Serbia and Belgium will compete for the last place.
Slovenia will play the preliminary round of the World Championship in Okinawa, Japan. The quarterfinals and final fights will be held in Manila, Philippines. The WC will last from August 25 to September 10, and the group draw will take place on April 29.
