Are is the last stop for female alpine skiers before the end of the World Cup in Soldeu. The ninth giant slalom of the season is taking place in Sweden. Live broadcast on TV SLO 2 and MMC.
The giant slalom is the first test in technical disciplines after the World Championship in Meribel. In this discipline, Mikaela Shiffrin became the world champion, who already won the big crystal globe and the small slalom this winter, and in Are she has a good chance to secure the giant slalom as well. She has 118 points ahead of her closest pursuer, Lara Gur-Behrami, in the total of the discipline.
At the same time, the American woman is chasing the historic achievement of the legendary Swede Ingemar Stenmark, who is the most successful skier of all time with 86 victories. Shiffrin has won 85 so far.
There are two Slovenian women at the start. Ana Bucik has number ten, and Neja Dvornik number 45. The final race will be at 1:00 p.m.
