World runner-up with Croatia in 2018, and third at the WC last year

Zlatko Dalić remains the coach of the Croatian national football team at least until the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted by the USA, Canada and Mexico.

The decision was expected. Dalić took over the national team in 2017 and first led it to the World Cup in Russia, and there to the final with France (2:4). At last year’s World Cup in Qatar, Croatia shone once again and won third place. The Croatians were only stopped in the semi-finals last year by eventual champions Argentina (3:0), and in the fight for third place, they were better than Morocco (2:1).

“Zlatko Dalić has fulfilled all the goals that we have set for him in the last five, six years. At the same time, he signed two magnificent achievements at the last two world championships, making him our most successful coach in history. I am extremely pleased that we have agreed to continue cooperation,“, commented the president of the Croatian Federation, Marijan Kustić, on the signing of the contract.

“I thank you for the trust, as well as for the support I have in working with the national team. I have repeatedly emphasized that this is a business that gives me the greatest honor and satisfaction and I am really looking forward to the future with the Croatian national team. Regardless of all the miracles successes, I have passion and ambitions to work with this team. I think there are still many beautiful challenges ahead of us.” however, the selector said when the contract was extended. First of all, the League of Nations awaits him with the team, but the bigger goal will be the European Championship next year in Germany.
