Ski flying history is being written in Vikersund. On Saturday, the ski jumpers tested the Norwegian airfield for the first time in training, and today at 10:00 a.m. they will have their first competition in the flights.
You will be able to follow the test from Vikersund live on TV SLO 2 and MMC. The test series started at 9.15 am.
Maren Lundby, who flew 216.5 m, had the test series distance. The second result of the series also belonged to the Norwegian woman. Silje Opseth was second with 206.5 m. Ema Klinec’s 200.0 m was enough for third place, while Nika Križnar was seventh with 185.0 m.
This year, the FIS only listened to the jumpers’ desire to fly on skis. The first match is thus hosted by Vikersund, and 15 girls who were the best ranked in the Raw Air tour’s total were given the right to play in it. The test does not count for World Cup points, but it will count for the mentioned ranking.
Here, Ema Klinec is in the best position, having also impressed in Saturday’s training session. In the second series, as the first – Daniela Iraschko had already flown 200 meters 19 years ago in Kulm, but of course not in an official competition – she flew over the magical 200-meter mark when she landed at 203 meters.
Her third flight was exceptional, measuring as much as 221 meters. The Canadian Alexandria Loutitt was able to go one meter further then, but the current youth and members’ world champion started five places higher. In addition to Ema Klinec, Nika Križnar, last year’s winner of the Raw tour, is also representing Slovenian colors in the first match Air.
