Alpine female skiers compete in the giant slalom in Soldeu, Andorra, for the end of the World Cup season. The final started at 12 noon. Ana Bucik (9th time of the first course) is already at the finish line, after a big mistake in the lower part, she fell back a lot.

When she arrived at the finish line, the Slovenian was last, 15th, so she will not win any points today. At the World Cup final, points are awarded to only the 15 best.
Shiffrin on the threshold of the 88th victoryMikaela Shiffrin, who has already secured the giant slalom globe (and, of course, a large crystal one), opened the race at 9 o’clock, and the Canadian Valerie Grenier, who was 62 hundredths behind, came closest to her result. The third is the Italian Marta Bassino (+0.63).
Mikaela Shiffrin is chasing her 88th World Cup victory (14th of the season), 21st giant slalom, which would put her at the top of the all-time list. He now shares the lead with Vreni Schneider with 20 wins. If she succeeds, she will finish the season with 2,206 points, which will be her record. Tina Maze, of course, remains untouchable (2414 points in the 2012/13 season).
Among the elite seven, the dropout rate was surprisingly high, as three skiers resigned: Saturday’s slalom winner Petra Vlhova, Federica Brignone and Sara Hector.
Ana Bucik, who retired from yesterday’s slalom, skied quite well in the morning, but it was not without mistakes: “I could have started better, the middle part was quite good, but in the lower part I lost some speed again.“
