It’s hard to lose points because of your own mistakes. But even more so when failures are like that. In the clash between Independiente de Avellaneda and Club Alético Colón, Paolo Goltz conceded an absurd penalty to make it 2-1 at home.
The defenders lost concentration and after the goalkeeper put the ball in play from a goal kick, he went back and collected the ball with his hands. The referee didn’t see the action at the time, so he didn’t signal anything at first. The Independiente players ran at him with heavy demands for maximum penalties.
Finally, VAR had to step in to declare an absurd penalty. It was the second of the match, with one more whistled at the extra end. Thanks to this, Colón managed to tie the match after Ramón Avila missed from 11m, but he mitigated Golz’s rude error and caught his own rebound.
The most unusual penalty in professional soccer history. Ohhhh Paolo Golz! pic.twitter.com/Ct5GW1O2z6
