The basketball players of Cinkarna Celje became the winners of the Cup of Slovenia for the 17th time, winning the laurel for the fifth time in a row. In the final of the final tournament in Slovenske Konjice, they defeated Triglav, just like last year, it was 72:67.
This was the eighth cup final in the last 12 seasons between the best teams in Slovenia for some time. Triglav won only once: in 2018, it won 72:68 in Kranj. The women from Celje appeared in the final for the ninth time in a row.
The women from Kranj started the match in front of 300 spectators better and won the first quarter with 18:10, while the women from Celje equalized by halftime, so the two teams went to a break settled at 28 points. They were better again in the third quarter tricepswho led by two points before the last quarter (51:49).
The last part was also opened better by the basketball players from Gorenje, who increased the advantage first to +5, and then to +7 (56:49) with Gale Kramžar’s three-pointer. A turnaround followed, and with a partial score of 18:3, the women from Celje took the lead with 67:59, which was also their biggest advantage in the match.
Ten seconds before the end, the women from Kranj came within three points, but they couldn’t get any closer.
The best scorers of the match were the basketball players from Triglav Rebekah Abramovich and Manca Vrečer with 16 points each. She scored 13 points for the winners Blaža Čechand 12 of them are for the victory of the protégés Damir Grgić contributed by Sara Elizabeth Loomis, Maruša Seničar and Lea Barthelemy.
Eleven cup winners’ titles are held by Ježičanka, Triglav won twice, Maribor and Rush Kranjska Gora.
