Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz won the match of the 3rd round of the Masters in Miami. In two sets (6:0 and 6:2) he eliminated the Argentine Facundo Bagnis without any major problems.
Alcaraz, winner of last year’s US Open, only needed 65 minutes to qualify for the next round of the competition, where he will face the Serb Dušan Lajović. Dropping just seven points in the first set, Bagnis only kept in touch until the fourth game in the second before the Spaniard shifted into a higher gear for a smooth victory.
Alcaraz has to win the Masters in Miami if he wants to keep the first place in the ATP ranking. “I knew that I would have to stay completely focused on my first match. Starting a new tournament is never easy, especially you have to get used to new conditions. The surface is faster, the humidity in the air is also higher. But from the beginning I was focused on match, I’m happy with my game. I’m trying to improve every day,” said the teenager from Murcia after the match.
He started this season on a great note, five days ago he ended the Russian’s winning streak with an outstanding performance Daniila Medvedevawhich lasted 19 matches, and rejoiced at the second tournament victory in 2023 in Indian Wells.
