A minute’s silence was held ahead of the start of the USA v Chivas National Classic of Mexico in memory of the fans who lost their lives at the Cuscatlan Stadium after a crowd in the General Sun Sector.

Hours earlier, FIFA president Gianni Infantino offered his condolences to the families of those who lost loved ones and called for a moment of silence at matches around the world on Sunday.

Last Saturday, 12 Alianza fans died due to congestion in the general sun area during the Clausura 2023 quarter-final second leg match between Alianza ‘Arvos’ and Club Deportivo FAS.
