With a turnaround in the second half, the Helios Suns basketball players defeated Krka for the second time (92:86) and again qualified for the final of the national championship, where their opponent will again be Cedevita Olimpija.
In Domžale, the residents of Novomeš were in the lead for most of the game. They were in the lead until the start of the last quarter, when Helios took the lead for the first time after six minutes. In the playoffs itself, the hosts did not allow Krka a basket for almost three minutes. With a partial score of 9:0, they gained an advantage that Gašper Okorn’s protégés could not make up for.
The first name of the match was Blaž Mahkovic, who scored 32 points, hitting all 15 free throws. He added 9 rebounds. Tibor Mirtič registered 20 points, Austin Luke 16, Niko Bačvić 15. Lovro Buljević had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Miha Cerkvenik with 22 and Rok Stipčević with 19 points stood out for Krka.
The final will be played for three wins. Dates are not yet known. Last year, Cedevita Olimpija won with 3:0.
In the final, the people of Ljubljana will compete for the twentieth jubilee championship title and the third in a row. Helios Suns, who will play in the final for the sixth time, was the champion of Slovenia in the 2006/07 and 2015/16 seasons.
