As a result of the Vinicius case, four arrests in Madrid and three in Valencia

Brazilian called Spain a “country of racists”

Spanish police detained seven people on Tuesday in connection with the racist insult of Real Madrid player Vinicius Junior. Four people were arrested in Madrid and three in Valencia.

After the incident in Sunday’s match of the Spanish championship between Valencia and Real (1:0), which was interrupted for 10 minutes, strict measures were demanded both from Real and from the league management.

The incident at the meeting, when Valencia fans insulted Vinicius, which was far from the only recent racist incident, is also taking on political tones. The footballer and zero tolerance for racism and hate speech were supported by both the Brazilian president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva as Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.

An additional hot debate was also caused by Vinicius, who, among other things, said in response to the event that Brazilians see Spain as a “country of racists”, for which he received harsh criticism in Spain.

The Spanish league has called for a change in legislation to eradicate similar events from stadiums, as they are largely powerless in their current situation.

The arrests in Madrid are linked to fans of Real’s city rivals Atletico, who also insulted Vinicius.
