The Slovenian under-17 football team did not succeed in a great feat and did not qualify for the quarter-finals of the European Championship in Hungary. In the decisive match in Telki, Miša Breček’s proteges lost against Italy with 0:3 (0:0).
In the end, the Slovenians took the last place in the pre-competition group B.
The first place was taken by Spain, the second by Serbia, both national teams qualified for the quarter-finals with a 1:1 result in the match between them in the last round.
The Slovenians, who started the championship with a 4:2 victory against Serbia, and then lost against Spain 1:3, had good chances before the match for a historic advancement to the quarterfinals. For him, with a favorable result in the match between the Spaniards and the Serbs, a draw would be enough.
But their cards started to crumble in the 19th minute, when the goalkeeper made a mistake Žan Trivunčević earned a red card, so Slovenia was left with one player less for the second consecutive match. In the first part, it withstood the Italian attacks, but in the second they completely ran out of strength. The Italians completely outplayed their rivals, scoring three goals, but wasted a few more good chances and also hit the goal frame twice.
He scored two goals for the Italians, whose convincing victory did not help them finish more than third place. Mattia Manninihe was successful in the 60th and 82nd minutes, and in the 87th he set the final score Giacomo De Pieri.
