The calendar got its final shape

The International Ski Federation has confirmed the Alpine Skiing World Cup calendar for the 2023/24 season. Maribor is not on it, so female skiers in Slovenia will compete again in Kranjska Gora at the beginning of January.

Maribor last hosted the World Cup competition in 2019, and since then the female skiers have had to move to Kranjska Gora four times. In addition to Maribor, Zagreb also dropped out for the next season, where they also had problems with the preparation of the track.

The season will start in Sölden at the end of October. The specialists for fast disciplines will have a ski test in Zermatt before leaving for the USA, which was canceled last year due to a lack of snow.

A more or less traditional program follows, but again this year the skiers of technical disciplines travel across the pond at the end of February. Slovenia will host female skiers in Kranjska Gora on January 6 and 7 and male skiers on March 9 and 10.

New to the calendar will be the men’s team competition in Kitzbühel, while the women’s will be in Crans Montana, a version of the competition that was tested in January this year at the Junior World Championships. In this case, the team consists of two skiers, one competes in super-giant slalom, the other in slalom.

There are no more parallel races and alpine combination in the calendar, but there will be 22 technical and fast disciplines for women, and 24 technical and 21 fast disciplines for men.

This time the final will be at the end of March in Saalbach.
