In the first match of the qualification for the First League, Aluminij and Gorica face off in Kidričev. The football players of Gorica want to avoid the second consecutive express relegation to the second division, while Aluminij is looking for a quick return to the best after the season in the 2nd SNL.
Two rounds before the end of the championship, the team from Kidrica had everything in their hands, but they lost against Primorje on their home turf and slipped to second place, where they remained even after the last round of the 2nd SNL. The people of Slatin were looking forward to breaking into the first division. Robert Pevnik’s chosen ones still have a make-up exam.
Nik Marinšek was undoubtedly the first name of Aluminij this season. With 21 league goals, the captain of the Reds was the second top scorer in the championship, which the Kidricans entered with a greatly changed team. Marinšek was one of the few who could boast of first-league mileage, and despite considerable personnel changes, the Styrians once again put together a quality team. This was also confirmed by the cup matches with Koper and Olimpija, as the Kidricans eliminated last year’s cup champions, but they also resisted well against this year’s double champions.
On Friday evening, Gori won their first battle of the season when they beat Tabor from Sežana 1:0 in the last round of the First League. Primorje are determined to avoid the scenario from the 2020/21 season, when after returning to the top Slovenian clubs, they played in the first league for only one season. Staying in the Premier League is certainly of utmost importance for the continuation of cooperation with the American investor who joined the club months ago. However, the Blue and Whites did not reach the eighth place, which they last occupied after the 20th round of the First Telemach League.
In Krško, the residents of Slatina secured a breakthrough to the first league, and Rogaška will be the 44th member in the history of the First League.
