Japan national team player Takefusa Kubo
The El Salvadoran team will travel to Asia ahead of the 2023 Gold Cup, which starts on June 24. Japan will be the first opponents in the ‘selection’ on the match list before facing the South Korean team in Daejeon on June 20.
The Japanese national team did not hold back at all for this international match and called up Japanese players who are active in the most important leagues in Europe.
Some of the most famous players on the list are: Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Ko Itakura from the Bundesliga, Yuki Ito from Stuttgart from the Bundesliga, Kaoru Mitoma from Brighton & Hove Albion from the Premier League, Daizen Maeda from Celtic from Scotland, Takefusa Kubo from the Spanish League from Real Sociedad but others.
Japan national team coach Hajime Moriyasu previously said, “I want to do my best so that I can win and show players all over the country how active they are” in the match against El Salvador.
National strategist Hugo Perez stressed the importance of this kind of meeting.. “What we need is to play with a high-level team that is demanding, not only because of the quality of their players, but because it is a test for our players.”
