Broadcast on TV SLO 2 and our website at 13:00

At the European Rowing Championships in Bled, Nina Kostanjšek took fourth place in the women’s semi-finals and will compete in final B on Sunday. Today’s final decisions will be broadcast on TV SLO 2 from 1 p.m. onwards.

In the second qualifying group, she made a strong start and was evenly matched in the first 500 meters with Ieva Adomavičiute of Lithuania and the winner of the opening World Cup race of Spain, Virginia Diaz Rivas. World and European champion Karolien Florijn from the Netherlands was in a class of her own.

In the following, the difference began to grow, and in the playoffs itself, the competitor from the Izola club attacked once again and came a boat behind the third-placed Spaniard, but still took an ungrateful fourth place, which leads to the B final first.

“I had a difficult group and I knew it would be difficult to reach the final, but I secretly wanted it. This is my third European Championship, I was the closest to the A final, I fought the whole course and I have nothing to blame myself for. With this performance I can be satisfied,” said the Slovenian competitor after the match. She will try to add the finishing touch on Sunday, when she wants to correct last year’s ninth place from the championship in Munich.

“I usually have a very fast start, but I knew that the female competitors would soon catch me. The plan from then on was to try to stick with them and stay in the fight for third place,” however, the contestant also added about the match itself, and on this occasion she also thanked the fans for their roaring support in the stands.

Joining Nina Kostanjšek on Sunday will be Rajko Hrvat in the final of lightweight skiers, Jaka Čas and Nik Krebs among the coxless duo in the C final and Filip Matej Pfeifer in the D skiff final.
