At the start of the 8th round of the Apertura 2023 at the Ana Mercedes Campos Stadium in Sonsonate, Alianza and Limeño Municipal ‘Albos’ were tied without a goal.
Alianza aimed for a victory, but was unable to score the winning goal against Limeño, who twice conceded much-needed goals due to strong defense.
“Albos” took the lead in the 15th minute with a shot from Michel Mercado, but the goalkeeper of “Coucheros” controlled well.
Limeño, who plays for Mexican side Landin, nearly scored with a header from Mario González after a corner kick, but the national team made a good save.
In the second half, coach Milton Melendez’s team moved up the order looking for victory, but were unable to create any clear scoring chances.
After 94 minutes of play, the final whistle blew at 0-0.
In a match where there were few clear scoring chances, the “Albos” scored three consecutive extra points in a draw, but Nelson Ancheta’s side piled on without a win in two games.
With this draw, the capital team reached 14 points and remains in third place after eight days of matches. Limeño, on the other hand, remain in eighth place in the table with eight points.
The next day, Alianza will visit Aguila in Las Delicias, while Limeño will face FAS at home in Ramon Flores.
