In the first round of the Alpine Hockey League, Sij Acroni Jesenice beat newcomers RST Pellet Celje 6:1 (2:0, 2:0, 2:1). There was no doubt about the winner from the first minutes, but Celjani scored an honorable goal only at the end.
The home team made a strong start in the Podmežakla hall and took a 2-0 lead after just over four minutes, which they took care of Žan Jezovšek (at the player more) and Tjaš Lesničar. In the 23rd minute, the latter scored for the second time, when he took advantage of Jezovšek’s pass during a new Jeseničan power play.
Two minutes later, after a long pass or clearance, Gašper Glavič scored with one less player on the ice. In the last 20 minutes, a 17-year-old entered the scene Jean Spari Lebenwho scored two goals in less than three minutes.
In the seventh minute of the last period, Celje scored their first goal in the Alpine League after the Latvian’s accurate shot from the right Mikus Mintautiškis. The ratio of shots on goal was only 37:20 in favor of Jesenice.
This year’s season of the second quality class of the regional competition is the eighth in such a format. There are 16 teams, the newcomer is the team from Celje. The competition system initially envisages a two-round league system with 30 matches for each team.
