Former representatives will also help Kolman

Kolman highlights the great potential of the team of Slovenian female soccer players

The new coach of the women’s football team, Saša Kolman, highlighted the great potential that the team has. He will make his debut on the selection bench already this Friday, when Slovenia starts the competition in the League of Nations B.

Kolman, who replaced Borut Jarac, met his protégés for the first time during today’s training at Brdo pri Kranje. After four days of preparation, the Slovenian women will play against the Czech Republic in Krško on Friday at 4 p.m. In the League of Nations, Belarus and Bosnia and Herzegovina are also in the group.

Winning is our main goal, I don’t know how to do anything else. I want actresses to think like that too. But until the end of the year, this part of the League of Nations will be important for getting to know me, so that I can get a picture. We have a young team, the potential is very high and I am sure that the girls can give even more. I know some of them from seminars, I also watched a few matches and was pleasantly surprised, I’m really looking forward to work,” said Kolman at the press conference, who chose coach Nuša Ladinek as his first assistant. His assistant will also be his friend and former national team member Matej Mavrič Rožič, former goalkeeper Mladen Dabanovič, a member of the golden Slovenian generation, will be the coach of the goalkeepers.

The 39-year-old Kolman has a varied coaching resume. After his playing career (he played for Tolmin, Gorica, Primorje, Nafta, as well as in the Faroe Islands, namely as a defender), he also worked abroad for 15 years. Before assuming the duties of a selector, he already worked as a head coach in Nova Gorica, and he was also the head coach in Australia, where he managed the youth and then the members of the South Melbourne team. In 2019, he took over the duties of the head of the football academy of the famous Real Madrid in the United Arab Emirates.

Due to the epidemic, he had to leave the UAE, he was unemployed for a while, and then he came to the Football Association, where he has been employed as a professional assistant for coaching training.

As is known, the previous coach Borut Jarc resigned after the national team’s women warned of the bad situation in the national team in an open letter. Saša Kolman refuses to comment on the dispute:I learned about everything from the media and it would be wrong for me to comment on it now. I want us to turn over a new leaf and focus on further work as a team.”
