The Yancker Rosenthal Stadium witnessed an exciting showdown between the two sides. Round 8 of the Apertura Tournament of the Honduran National League, Club Deportivo Marathon and Club Olimpia Deportivo.

But it wasn’t just the final score of 0-1 in Olimpia’s favor that made this match stand out, but also the flying kick that left everyone open-mouthed and its enforcer, Andre Orellana, straight into the red. The card was played.

The duel was a balanced affair in the first few minutes, with both teams showing solid positioning on the field and a clear desire to maintain order on all lines. It looked like each team was facing a confrontation with each team trying to achieve a tactical victory.

However, there were touching moments in the second half.. Marathon had a clear chance when Clayvin Zuniga was left alone in front of the free goal, but his shot hit the crossbar. Olimpia also had a shot by forward Benguche, but it was deflected by Cesar Samudio and went close to the goal.

Time ticked by, but the score remained at zero. However, just six minutes into the match, emotions began to overflow. Kevin López of the visiting team scored the only goal of the match with a deft shot from the right side at grass level, beating Panamanian goalkeeper Samudio.

However, the climax of the match was yet to come. One minute before regulation time, local player Andre Orellana performed a scene that left everyone speechless. Orellana jumped into the air while competing with a divide ball and delivered a fierce flying kick that hit two of her rivals.

The two players affected by this action were Carlos Pineda, number 32, and Germán Mejía, number 29. The kick was so powerful that both midfielders fell to the field.

The central referee’s reaction was immediate and he showed Orellana a direct red card without hesitation.

Despite the intensity and emotion of the match, Club Olimpia emerged victorious and are now top of the table with 17 points, while Club Deportivo Marathon are in 6th place with 10 points.

Salomon Nazar’s side will play away to Lobos UPN the following day, while Pedro Troglio’s students will be at home to Genesis in their next game.
