A police source said: “Officers from Porta Ticinese police station intervened after a British man who was accompanied by a friend was attacked.”
“The 58-year-old man was approached by a group of hooded men and sustained injuries to his arm and back. He was taken to hospital in Milan and is expected to be discharged soon,” the source said.
Police added that an investigation has been launched to determine “whether this attack is related to a conflict between fans or is a criminal act.”
Just before that, a Newcastle spokesperson expressed the English club’s concerns “following reports of fan violence at Milan”.
