What are you doing today at 18:00? Do not miss and watch the group draw for the 17th European Football Championship, where we will find out who and where Slovenia will play at Euro 2024. Broadcast on TV SLO 2/MMC!

Elbphilharmonie or The lovely Elphi is a concert hall on the embankment of the Elbe river in the harbor Hamburg in the north of Germany, where the (un)luck of the upcoming European Championship will be shared by 24 national teams, including Slovenia. Transmission of the draw on TV SLO 2 and MMC!

Placement in the third drum means that the Slovenians cannot play the Dutch, Scots, Slovaks, Czechs and Croats in June for the second year.

Drum 1: Germany, Portugal, France, Spain, Belgium, EnglandDrum 2: Hungary, Denmark, Austria, Albania, Turkey, RomaniaDrum 3: Netherlands, Scotland, SloveniaSlovakia, Czech Republic, CroatiaDrum 4: Serbia, Switzerland, Italy, Nations League A, B and C qualifier

How will the draw take place?

  • the A1 spot and the opening match in Munich belongs to hosts Germany, who are not technically drawn;
  • all pairings and the entire schedule of the tournament, including elimination matches, is determined by pairings such as A3 – A4, B1 – B2…
  • the start of the real draw with the first drum,
  • the drawn national team is classified into available groups in alphabetical order (B, C, D, E, F, G, H);
  • each national team is immediately drawn for position in each group (for example B1, B2, B3 or B4);
  • the same procedure follows the draws in the second, third and fourth drum;
  • we get six groups with four national teams each and a complete competition schedule;
  • In March, we will find out about the last three participants who must win the League of Nations qualifying tournaments.

Three group stage matches between June 14 and 26

The first round of the group stage will be played between June 14 and 18, the second round between June 19 and 22 and the third round between June 23 and 26. As it is the third tournament of the old continent with 24 participants, the winners of the groups, the runners-up and the four best third-placed teams advance to the round of 16. After the preliminaries, the eight worst teams will therefore leave Germany.

Sports story Vala 202 offers something about permutations of the draw and thinking about the future, not least Matjaž Kek emphasizing that he doesn’t just want to participate in Germany, but to compete.
