The 100th podium finish for the Spanish driver, nicknamed ‘El Nano’.
Spanish driver Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin), who finished 2nd in the F1 World Championship held in Jeddah and 3rd in the Saudi Arabian GP but missed the podium due to a 10-second penalty, is back. This comes after the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has dealt with a claim filed by his two-time world champion team in Asturias.
The 41-year-old Alonso therefore repeats the third place he won in Bahrain. 100th podium finish in the premier class.
The brilliant Asturian driver, who was on the podium before learning of the sanctions remedied by the FIA, is third in the world championship, but with 30 points instead of 27. Meanwhile, Englishman George Russell (Mercedes) placed him 18th and 6th in the general recalculation.
