Last year, the telecommunications operator T-2 started implementing the Smart Cities 4.0 project, which is co-financed by the EU. They will connect smart cities and create development solutions for a more sustainable development of the economy and society.

T-2 cooperates with Solviks and Flycom Technologies as part of a development-oriented consortium. “The goal we are pursuing is to direct the use of the latest technologies in the fields of artificial intelligence, process automation, the Internet of Things, big data and augmented reality (XR) technology,” explained a member of the technical and IT management at today’s press conference at the company’s premises Jože Zrimšek.

With the project, the consortium co-creates a more sustainable development of the economy and society, so that they will be better prepared and more resistant to the challenges and opportunities of the green and digital transition, he added. The total value of the project is 4.78 million euros. They obtained European funds in the amount of 2.2 million euros from the Fund for Recovery and Resilience, and they will invest more than 2.6 million euros of their own funds, T-2 announced after the press conference.

“We are glad that the T-2 Smart Cities 4.0 project was recognized in the EU as important for the digital transformation of organizations and their business functions and for the creation of an open innovation environment, which will stimulate further digital transformation during the development of the next generation of the T-2 Smart Cities platform city ​​services and interaction with citizens,” said Zrimšek.

Unified management of public services

As explained by the head of the digital transformation department at T-2 Gašper Žerovnikwith the next generation of the platform, they will encourage integrated digitization and enable unified management of public services, which can be gradually upgraded in a modular manner.

In addition, the project will accelerate many changes in the economic sector. By introducing digital innovations, automation, robotization and technologies of the fourth and fifth industrial revolution (4IR and 5IR), they will help to increase the efficiency, productivity and competitiveness of the companies involved and the users of the solutions. This will help partners strengthen and optimize existing business processes.

The adapted business operations of the partners will enable the inclusion of a digital identity solution for individual consortium partners. The introduction of e-identity will also mean administrative relief, which is also one of the important goals of the project. The results of the digital transformation project will be shown by key performance indicators, from the very implementation of innovative ideas and new solutions, the degree of involvement and efficiency of individual departments and sectors, to the increase the value of products and services in relation to users, as well as a range of other operational and sustainable improvements and ensuring cyber security within the framework of establishing an IT environment for smart cities, were also presented in the company.
