Taiwan warns China has deployed about 30 planes and four ships near Taiwan’s coast

Taiwan has found 30 planes and 4 ships in the waters separating it from China. This is an action that will escalate animosity between the two countries, especially in a volatile scenario after Pelosi’s visit to America’s Nancy.

Taiwanese officials reported Wednesday that the military has registered 33 Chinese military aircraft and four ships near the island.

Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense said as of 5pm (6am in Chile) Taiwan’s military had warned of deployments at sea and in the air near Taiwan.

He therefore explained that nine planes crossed the so-called “median line” of the Taiwan Strait, including four J-11 fighters, four J-16s, and a Y-8 anti-submarine aircraft.

Taiwan sent air patrols to monitor the situation and issued several radio warnings. In addition, it deployed an anti-aircraft missile system.

Defense Minister Qiu Guocheng said Taipei would take action if Chinese forces crossed the “red line”.

In this sense, he stressed that the “invasion of Chinese fighters” into Taiwan’s airspace would be considered a “first attack”, but what measures Taiwan could take in retaliation did not clarify.

US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to the island last August exacerbated tensions between the two parties. Beijing denounced his visit, understanding it as a sign of support for the island’s independence forces.
