After Croatia’s entry into the Schengen area on January 1 this year, when controls on the Slovenian-Croatian border were lifted, this weekend the Croatian media reported on long queues at the Croatian border crossings with BiH, Serbia and Montenegro.

According to HAK data, the longest wait to enter Croatia today is six hours at the Bajakovo crossing on the border with Serbia. The waiting time at the Jasenovac crossing on the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina is three hours. There are also longer waiting times at other crossings.

There are also columns at the Bregana toll station in the direction of Slovenia. According to the Croatian Auto Club (HAK), there is a three kilometer long line.

The Croatian Ministry announced this week that they plan to abolish the toll booths at the Obrežje and Jelšane border crossings. The Bregana toll booth is approximately 400 meters from the Obrežje border crossing, while the Rupa toll booth is 3,500 meters from the Jelšana border crossing.
