Vietnam president resigns over bribery scandal



Nguyen Xuan Phuc resigned from his position two years ago due to repatriation flight bribes carried out by cabinet officials in connection with the covid-19 pandemic.

On Tuesday, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam approved the resignation of President Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

Local reports said the man also resigned from his position in the store’s operating organization.

Phuc, 69, will become the first Vietnamese president to step down before the end of a term that began just two years ago.

Prior to that, he was the Prime Minister of Vietnam for five years.
