Officials in southwestern China’s Sichuan province announced abolition On the ban on registration of the offspring of singles in new measures to increase the birth rate.
The provincial health commission said the rule applies to those registered as permanent residents of the region and will be effective for five years from Feb. 15, according to China Daily.

In 2015, the one-child policy, which banned having more than two children in 1979, was officially abolished, allowing up to three children from 2021. A few days ago, the National Bureau of Statistics revealed negative growth data for the first time in 60 years. China lost 850,000 residents last year and is now home to her 1.41 million.
