Police in Belize are investigating the strange death of a Salvadoran man who was found dead on a boat sailing on a beach near the island.

The tragedy struck Saturday on Caye Caulker, a small Caribbean coral island under the jurisdiction of Belize.

According to police reports, the Salvadoran collided with something while the boat was underway. He then made some contact with the boat’s propeller, which severed part of his right leg and died from severe bleeding, according to information gathered by Breaking Belize News.

Police did not elaborate on the identity of the victim, nor did they say whether the Salvadoran was living in Belize or simply on vacation.

At this time, authorities report that they are continuing to investigate the incident to determine the ultimate cause of the Salvadoran’s death.
