Diplomats went to Costa Rica led by Mr. Daniel Ortega at the request of the country on March 10th.
according to vatican newsunder the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, “the administration of the Apostolic Envoys and their property was entrusted to the Italian Republic”.
“Before his departure, Monsignor Diouf was received by accredited diplomatic representatives in Nicaragua from the European Union, Germany, France and Italy,” they added.
Diplomatic ties between Managua and the Vatican were on the verge of breaking on Sunday, with the local foreign ministry saying in a statement that “a suspension of diplomatic ties has been proposed” with the European state.
