Nevertheless, he has never publicly condemned the military operation ordered by Russian President Vladimir Putin, which began in February 2022.

Xi Jinping’s visit is very important

He is the highest-ranking Russian official to visit the Asian giant since the invasion of Ukraine began.

China has expressed willingness for the two countries to continue “firm support on issues affecting each other’s core interests.”

According to the state news agency, President Xi Jinping told Mishustin: Xinhua News Agency.

This kind of formulation, although somewhat vague, is often used in the framework of bilateral talks with representatives of Russia and other countries, and generally refers to the issue of the island of Taiwan as far as China is concerned.

Xi Jinping also called for “strengthening cooperation in multilateral forums such as the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the BRICS and the G20,” according to the Xinhua News Agency.
